— It is with the heaviest of hearts that Marcuard announces the passing of our Honorary Chairman and founder of multiple Marcuard entities, Hans-Joerg Rudloff (1940–2025), who left us on 1 December 2025 at the age of 85. He was a direct descendant of Johann Rudolf Marcuard, a real visionary, and a true inspiration for the firm, its employees, and the family.

Mr. Rudloff spent nearly fifty years in international investment banking. He began his career at Credit Suisse in Switzerland, then joined Kidder Peabody in New York in the late 1960s. In the 1970s and 1980s he pioneered the Eurobond market, helping to turn it into a core funding channel for governments and companies alike, earning the nickname “Eurobond King”.

He later became Chairman and CEO of Credit Suisse First Boston and, from 1998, Chairman of Barclays Capital, where he oversaw the build-up of its investment bank which he turned into an industry powerhouse.

Within Marcuard, Mr. Rudloff was a source of measured counsel, innovation, and long-term perspective. His independent spirit, unwavering integrity, and relentless commitment to the highest standards shaped the firm’s ethos and continue to drive us every day.

We extend our condolences to his family and in particular to our CEO, Philippe Rudloff. Marcuard will continue to operate on the principles of professionalism, performance and meticulous care that he consistently championed.
